GENEVA (Sputnik) — EU Foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini said Wednesday that the EU position on the Syrian regime remained unchanged.
"There has been no change in the EU position on the Syrian regime," Mogherini told reporters after a meeting with the Damascus delegation at Syria proximity talks during unannounced visit to Geneva.
She added that the European Union fully supports efforts by UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura in finding a political solution to Syria crisis.
Mogherini also said that she only discussed issues of the Syrian political process with the Damascus government delegation to the reconciliation talks.
"The only issue we discussed is the political process and the EU support to it, as well as EU expectations that parties engage seriously in this process," Mogherini told reporters.
Asked whether the issue of the anti-Syria economic sanctions was touched upon, Mogherini stressed that only the political process was discussed.
