MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian President Vladimir Putin is not planning to visit the Nuclear Security Summit in Washington later in March, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Wednesday.
"That event is not on the president's schedule," Peskov told RIA Novosti.
The fourth Nuclear Security Summit is expected to take place in Washington between March 31 and April 1. Russia participated in all the previous events that were held in Washington, Seoul and The Hague in 2010, 2012 and 2014 respectively.
In January, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Russia would skip the summit due to "unacceptable" interference by organizers of the event in the work of international structures, including the International Atomic Energy Agency.
