MOSCOW(Sputnik) — Threats of terrorist attacks exist in Russia but the security services are monitoring the situation and it is currently under control, Federal Security Service (FSB) head Alexander Bortnikov said Wednesday.
"We monitor ongoing processes. The situation is under control as of today. There are no absolute guarantees but I think that we can say now that [terrorist] activities [in the country] are being disclosed and stopped in a timely manner," Bortnikov said.
On Tuesday, at least 31 people were killed and some 260 injured in two bomb blasts in Brussels' Zaventem airport and an explosion at a metro station in the city. The Islamic State jihadist group, outlawed in many countries including the United States and Russia, has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
