According to the labor union president, Lefteris Renieris, the metro workers demand recruitment of additional staff, strengthening of technical base as well as ensuring the employees' safety.
Attacks on metro ticket controllers began in late 2015 and there have been several such attacks since then resulting in multiple injuries.
Earlier in March, vandals destroyed ticket machines at Monastiraki metro station in central Athens and at nearby Keramikos station.
Last week, "anarchists" published a list of 125 metro ticket controllers online, urging to deal with them in "appropriate way," according to local media.
