Earlier, several media agencies covering the arrival of the top US diplomat to Moscow noticed that he had brought a guitar along and speculated that it may in fact be a birthday gift for his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov.
However, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova revealed that the musical instrument in question is in fact Kerry’s personal guitar which he often takes along while travelling across the world.

Apparently, Kerry's counterparts in other nations are well aware of his hobby. For example, during a meeting last year Spain's Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Garcia-Margallo presented him with a Spanish guitar.
Earlier on Wednesday, Kerry landed in Moscow for a two-day visit, which is the first this year and the third over the past 12 months.
