"The EU politicians do not care for any consequences… We have seen it in the light of the last agreement with Turkey, which is really a joke," Johannes Hubner said.
Hubner claimed that the EU governments had learned nothing from past terrorist attacks in the bloc.
"They are no longer representing their population, instead, with this agreement they are increasing the risk of terrorist attacks day by day. What Europe needs is a completely new leadership," the lawmaker stressed.
Since January 2015, an estimated million refugees have entered Greece from Turkey, most hoping to travel north to seek asylum in Europe. A growing number of European countries have been closing their borders, worried by the inflow of migrants to their territory. Various rights groups have slammed the conditions under which the refugees have been treated in Europe, including the closure of borders and the state of migrant camps and refugee reception centers.
