MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Cooperation on counterterrorism between different countries' military and intelligence services is necessary, and this includes Russia, Italian Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni said Friday.
"As independent countries, we need to know that efforts are necessary — at the level of society, economy, culture and politics — to avoid the radicalization of the Islamic minority that professes violence. On the other hand, cooperation is necessary at the level of intelligence services and military as well, which must include Russia," Gentolini said following talks with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov.
The Italian minister also noted Russia's "fundamentally important" role in launching the Syria peace process.
