The western route, or the Power of Siberia-2 gas pipeline, was conceived to supply gas to China from Western Siberian fields and has a planned annual capacity of 30 billion cubic meters. In May 2015, Gazprom and CNPC inked an agreement for gas supplies from Russia to China via this route.
"This [completion] is for certain. And these issues, issues energy issues included, were discussed, I can confirm this. They were discussed in some detail at the recently concluded discussions with Chairman Xi Jinping. Both our leaders are monitoring these projects closely," Ivanov told reporters.
"On the Western route, talks are being held exclusively regarding prices. Of course, we are interacting with China on a market basis, no other way is possible, this is pragmatism," he added.
