MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier this week, the newspaper reported that the nuclear power plants in the country were the original targets for the attacks.
"I wouldn't be surprised if in the future the nuclear sector becomes the target of cyberattacks," Kerchove told the Belgian Libre daily.
He added that the attempts to use the Internet for terrorist attacks could take place within the next five years.
On Tuesday, two suicide attacks took place at the Brussels Airport departure hall in the northeastern municipality of Zaventem and another explosion occurred at the Maelbeek station near EU institutions. At least 31 people were killed and some 340 were injured in the attacks, responsibility for which was claimed by Daesh terrorist group.
