MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The conference, which is due to take place in mid-2016, will focus on preventing the spread of extremist ideas among the younger generations, Steinmeier told Funke Mediengruppe reporters, as quoted by the Deutschlandfunk public radio station.
Steinmeier is the current chairperson-in-office of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).
On Wednesday, the foreign minister met his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov. After the meeting, Steinmeier said that exchanges of information could facilitate the fight against the international terrorism and should be intensified.
The meeting came just a day after suicide blasts hit the Brussels international airport with a further explosion shaking the Maelbeek metro station, killing at least 31 people and injuring over 300.
The Islamic State militant group, which is banned in Russia, claimed responsibility for the attacks.
