MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the Sky News broadcaster, the information about the "imminent attack" has been obtained from six Daesh fighters arrested in the southern Turkish city of Gaziantep last week.
"In light of these circumstances, extraordinary security measures are being taken above and beyond the high alert level already in place by the Turkish police, as well as vigilance within the Jewish community," an intelligence source told the broadcaster.
According to the Sky News sources, the threat is "more than credible" and could take place "in the next 24 hours or next few days." However, no precise information on the day of the scheduled attack was available, according to the source.
A synagogue in Istanbul’s Beyoglu district, which has a school attached to it, is the most likely target of the potential attack, the media reported. The Turkish authorities are reportedly implementing undercover and other counterterror measures "around the clock."
Earlier in the day, Israeli National Security Council issued a notice recommending Israeli tourists to leave Turkey swiftly over recent terror attacks.
Earlier this month, a terror attack in Istanbul left five people dead, including three Israeli tourists. Another 10 Israelis were injured and subsequently sent to their home country by military and medical aircraft. The Daesh group, outlawed in many countries including Russia and the United States, is reportedly considered by the Turkish security service to be behind the attack.
