Sputnik found out that these men, or, rather “night men” as they are called here, have decided to become hookers instead of find a decent job people would respect.
Lawyer-turned-male-prostitute
One of these “night men” named Muhaya peers into the face of every young woman who passes hoping that one of them will choose him as a partner for a one night stand.
Not far away a dozen other men are standing on the side of the street to make it easier for potential clients to make their pick without leaving the car.
One of these young men, named Muhaya, said that after graduating from the law department of a local university, he failed to find a job at a local hotel.
“I agreed and before long some of the female guests started asking me to sleep with them for money. They paid well, more than I could earn during a whole month, that’s how I found myself another job,” he told Sputnik.
Once he even tried to work as a security guard, but the company closed down and he had to look for another job.
Strict Rules
There is a set of strict “must-do” rules Muhaya uses at his new job: his clients are not to offer him a drink, drugs or even ask for a cigarette.
“Once I agreed to have a drink or two with an American girl. I woke up next morning only to realize that all my money and valuables were gone. This is the mistake many rookies like me often make,” he admitted.
Package deal
Not long ago Muhaya celebrated a new record of having serviced 300 women, most of them from North America, Australia and the Persian Gulf.
“They come here looking for new sensations and some of them, mostly from the Persian Gulf, pay enough money for a needy family to live on for a long time,” Muhaya said.
Certified doctor, sex worker
Another “night man”, Mamduh, said that he wanted to work as a doctor but graduating from the medical department of a local university he learned that he could make a lot more money by using his body than treating people.
“I have been working for 10 years now and you can’t name a country whose female subjects haven’t asked me for sex,” Mamduh said.
Mamduh, known to many as “the Doctor,” spends half of his earnings working out in the gym to look fit and handsome which is a strict requirement for anyone working in the sex business.
“Our work mostly comes from hotels where we have someone we know who contacts us when he finds a client. However, because the tour industry is experiencing hard times now, we also have to work the streets,” Manduh said.
'Police chase us away or take kickbacks'
And, as one could have already guessed, all this is happening under the watchful eye of the police who are frequent guests at the “red light” district forcing the “night men” to hide.
Omar, a 20-year-old agronomist during the day and a prostitute after dark, said that all police can do is temporarily clear the streets of streetwalkers of both sexes.
They also know that prostitutes hate to lose time at the precinct and prefer to run away the moment they see a police car moving up. That’s why all the cops need to do is just chase the hookers away, at least for the time being.
“Police raids are a big headache because they chase us off the streets and we lose clients and money,” Omar complained.
Some police officers prefer to stick to the good old “live and let live” principle and just pretend not to see… for a reasonable commission, of course.
