WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Angkor Sentinel is held annually at the Training School for Multinational Peacekeeping Forces in Cambodia’s Kampong Speu province. The exercise intends to increase US-Cambodian bilateral cooperation and their response to severe weather events, terrorism and regional conflicts, according to the release.
"The exercise is designed to collectively strengthen the two countries’ humanitarian assistance and disaster relief capabilities and improve military-to-military cooperation," Ferguson stated.
Personnel from both countries’ militaries, including the Cambodian army, US Army Pacific, the Asia Pacific Center Improvised Explosive Device Fusion Center and other forces undertook the two-week annual training program, which covered technical as well as academic exercises.
This year, the program included team-building drills intended to establish a foundation for the two countries to work together on future interests.
