"The FBI stands ready to assist our international partners with any requests for assistance," Cratty stated when asked if the FBI was helping investigate the Brussels terrorist attacks based on reported request by Belgian authorities.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Wall Street Journal, citing US officials, said that Belgian authorities requested the United States help in the ongoing probe of the Brussels attacks.
Also on Tuesday, the Dutch RTBF broadcaster reported, citing Dutch Minister of Security and Justice Ard van der Steur, the FBI had informed Amsterdam about the criminal past of the Bakraoui brothers, six days before they carried out the deadly Brussels terror attacks.
On March 22, two suicide blasts ripped through the Brussels international airport’s departure hall. A further explosion occurred at the Maelbeek metro station near where the EU institutions are located in the city. A total of 35 people died in the attacks, including four US citizens.
