MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier media reports suggested that two Polish citizens, a man and a woman, were injured in the blasts.
"After the Belgian authorities carried out the identification [of victims], the Polish embassy confirmed that there is a Polish citizens among the fatalities," the ministry's statement reads.
The ministry added that according to the consular information, three Polish citizens were wounded in the explosions and subsequently hospitalized. Names of the victims have not been revealed.
On March 22, two suicide blasts hit the departures hall of Brussels international airport and an explosion shook a subway carriage in Maelbeek station, killing 35 people, and injuring over 300. The Islamic State extremist group, outlawed in many countries including Russia and the United States, has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
