SANTIAGO (Chile) (Sputnik) – The Latin American countries are most of all interested in the purchase of the Russian helicopters, the deputy head of the Russian Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) said.
"The Latin American countries are actively using the Russian helicopter equipment. First of all, it is determined by its high performance. Our helicopters have given a good account of themselves both in high altitudes and in humid tropical climate," Anatoly Punchuk told RIA Novosti in an interview on the sidelines of the 19th FIDAE International Air & Space Fair in Chile.
For the most part, foreign customers are interested in the Mi-type helicopters, taking into account their universality, Punchuk added.
Russia has been taking part in FIDAE since 1994. The expo is among the largest biennial air shows in Latin America. It is organized under the patronage of the Chilean armed forces, the country's presidential administration and government.
