MOSCOW (Sputnik) – On March 24, Belgian police arrested Reda Kriket, who had previously been convicted and sentenced in absentia for having ties to terrorists, in a police raid linked to the deadly Brussels attacks. Police officers discovered weapons and explosive devices while arresting Kriket.
More than 10 military vehicles were deployed to Courtrai within the context of the anti-terror raid, the Het Laatste Nieuws newspaper reported, citing a source in the Belgian prosecutor's office.
The Belgian authorities have introduced stricter security measures in the country after suicide bombers attacked Brussels international airport and a metro station in the capital on March 22, killing 35 people and injuring over 300.
