This year, Russia intends to hand out 1,500 grants for foreign students, which can be used to cover travelling expenses, dormitory rent, health insurance, and education fees, according to Rossiyskaya Gazeta newspaper.
Furthermore, Moscow is allocating additional funds on language courses so that applicants could study Russian. In order to facilitate this process and help the students learn the language before they actually arrive in Russia, Rossotrudnichestvo — an autonomous federal government agency under the jurisdiction of the Foreign Ministry – suggested establishing Russian language schools in universities abroad.
Furthermore, foreign exchange students will now receive a visa registration for the entire duration of their studies, without the necessity of renewing it each year as before.
Also, Russian university provosts and certain government agencies intend to submit their own proposals on how to make the country more attractive for foreign exchange students.
