LONDON (Sputnik) – Dudha is said to be a respected cleric from the orthodox Deobandi sect believed to control half of the mosques and madrasas in the United Kingdom. He is the founder and head of the Islamic Tarbiyah Academy in Dewsbury, which teaches 140 primary school children as well as over-16s and adults in an after-school madrasa.
His statement to the broadcaster claimed “certain extracts…have been taken and misrepresented to link the Academy with extremism.”
“The embrace of Westernization by Muslims have introduced all the evils of that culture into Muslim homes thus bringing ruin to the holy moral fabric of Muslim society,” an excerpt from Mufti Zubair Dudha’s leaflet obtained by Sky News reads.
A section on jihad advocates to “expend…even life” to create a world organized “according to Allah’s just order.” The evil of mixed-sex institutions, warnings against adopting British customs, banning television watching and prohibiting women from working and be fully covered before leaving the house are among ideas distributed in other leaflets and newsletters.
A Department for Education statement said it was investigation the “serious” allegations without elaborating further.
