WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — In recent years, US businesses and government agencies have been the victim of numerous cyberattacks from a variety of actors with criminal, economic or political motivations.
"We have deep concerns about our ability to protect the intellectual property of our companies," Obama said, adding that he appreciated President Xi Jinping’s "willingness to have candid conversations" on this matter among other pressing issues.
Last year, the personal data of more than 21 million current and former US government employees was compromised and Washington blamed China for the incident, a claim that Beijing has rejected.
Obama and Xi met on the sidelines of the fourth Nuclear Security Summit in Washington, DC attended by over 50 foreign leaders.
