MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Syrian sappers have demined four kilometers of a strategic highway connecting the recently liberated city of Palmyra and Deir ez-Zor, clearing 36 mines, the Russian Defense Ministry said Friday.
"The demining of the road network around Palmyra continues. Syrian sappers have demined four kilometers of a highway connecting Palmyra with Deir ez-Zor, clearing a total of 36 mines," the ministry said in a daily bulletin posted on its website.
