WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — US-led anti-Daesh coalition has been attacking the jihadist group’s middle management, and has eliminated the deputy security emir for Mosul in Iraq and the group’s chief of staff for digital estate, Operation Inherent Resolve spokesman Col. Steve Warren told reporters on Friday.
"On January 28…Abu Zaid was killed by a coalition airstrike near Mosul," Warren stated. "Zaid was the deputy security emir for Mosul, and was responsible for brutal enforcement of ISIL [Islamic State] security measures and for purging dissidents."
The spokesman added that a coalition airstrike in Iraq killed the Daesh’s chief of staff for digital estate Al Jibori on March 7.
