Chechen acting leader Ramzan Kadyrov told Sputnik in an interview that after the Syrian crisis is finally over, a number of countries will have to apologize to Russia for their stance toward Moscow.

GROZNY (Sputnik) — A US-Russia-brokered ceasefire came into force across Syria on February 27. It was supported by Damascus, as well as by dozens of armed opposition groups. The truce has been generally holding, which improved the humanitarian situation in the country and increased access for aid convoys.

"The Syrian issue will soon be over. It should be solved in the near future. And then Riyadh, Turkey, other states will have to apologize for treating Russia wrong. And the Europeans, too, who took part in the sanctions policy," Kadyrov said.

Kadyrov said that Russia is a great power, an economically strong country.

"Whether they want it or not, but they [other countries] will have to reckon with Russia. You won't scare us with sanctions. It will only make Russia stronger," the Chechen acting leader said.

"I'll say America," he said, answering a question on what country could be considered the main source of evil.

"If I'm not mistaken, over the past hundred years they participated in 130 conflicts, invaded 50 countries. No other country in the world comes close to this."

In December 2015, Kadyrov said Washington's "personal ambitions" and unwillingness to compromise on the Syrian issue led to millions of Syrians suffering from the conflict in the country.
