GROZNY (Sputnik) – The Chechen Republic is a federal subject of Russia, located in the North Caucasus.
"I don’t have dollars. My salary is in rubles, so I am not rushing for the US dollar… If I had any savings, I would spend them immediately on the republic. I would help people. Not as an investment, but as charity," Kadyrov said.
Chechnya was a hotbed of Islamist militancy in the 1990s and the beginning of 2000s, when its radical leadership aimed to separate from Russia. By 2009, Russia had largely disrupted the Chechen separatist movement and most of the fighting ceased.
Russia’s Chechen Republic will have its own horse breed, Chechen acting leader Ramzan Kadyrov said in an interview with Sputnik.
"We are moving to have our own breed," Kadyrov said.
He confessed he loved horses a lot.
"I think that there is nothing more beautiful than horses in this life. You look and rest, each is beautiful in its own way," Kadyrov noted.
Kadyrov is well known for supporting horse racing competitions. His horses participate in numerous international equestrian events, and have won various prizes.
