BELGRADE (Sputnik) — The International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) has recently passed judgments on two more Serbs who stood accused of war crimes during the Kosovo war in the late 1990s. It convicted Bosnian-Serb leader Radovan Karadzic and acquitted politician Vojislav Seselj.
"I think that the Tribunal has not fulfilled its main task – to punish war crimes in order to reconcile the sides in the region… On the contrary, ICTY verdicts have only stirred nationalist sentiments."
He added that the court also acquitted two ethnic Albanian terrorist group members who sought the separation of Kosovo from Serbia.
"The Hague wants to complicate relations in the region and in Serbia. I think that the Tribunal has played an extremely negative role. It was slow-paced and, most of all, biased."
Dacic suggested that ICTY’s main goal was to "justify the policy that was conducted against Serbia and the Serbs in the 1990s," when NATO intervened to bomb Yugoslavia on "humanitarian" premise without a permit from the UN Security Council.
