The manager of a food store in Kiselyovsk called the police saying that someone had smashed the wall during the night, adding that nothing had apparently been stolen.
“An 18-year-old local resident was detained on suspicion of burglary. He pleaded guilty to stealing beer and coffee, but a subsequent inspection revealed that nothing was missing. The suspect later admitted to having stolen ten chocolate bars and having lied about the beer and coffee because he felt ashamed,” the local police department said in a statement.
According to the police, it was the chocolate the young man was after when he decided to break in.
If found guilty, the unlucky thief may spend the next five years behind bars.
