MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The suspected drug traffickers, aged between 25 and 40, earned over 10 billion Vietnamese dongs ($450,000), according to the Thanh Nien News newspaper.
All of them are said to have carried the drugs from Vietnam’s northwest Son La Province on the Laos border.
Two members of the gang were detained in Hanoi and the neighboring Hoa Binh Province in December 2014, the daily said.
Drug-related crimes are subject to harsh penalties in South East Asia, including the death sentence. According to both Indonesian and Vietnamese law, production, transit, import and possession of psychotropic drugs are among the criminal offenses that carry the death penalty.
