MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The US presidential election is scheduled for November 8, 2016. The latest nationwide polls, with nearly half the primaries and caucuses over, indicate that Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton and Trump are likely to progress to the general elections from their respective parties.
"Currently, Clinton's chances seem higher. But [Republican candidate Donald] Trump has already surprised all of us. I don't dare to predict the situation in November, when the election will be held," Churkin told the Russian daily Komsomolskaya Pravda in an interview.
On April 19, New Yorkers will head to the polls to take part in their state’s primary. Clinton, a former New York senator, needs her home state to secure much needed delegate support. With nearly half the primaries and caucuses behind, the latest national poll indicates that Clinton and New York billionaire Donald Trump are likely to head into the general elections on November 8.
