WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Coalition forces carried out six airstrikes in four Syrian cities targeting one of the Daesh militants’ pump jacks, a vehicle, fighting position, heavy rocket systems and tactical units.
"In Syria, coalition military forces conducted six strikes using attack, fighter, and remotely piloted aircraft against ISIL [Daesh] targets," the release said on Tuesday. "Additionally in Iraq, Coalition military forces conducted 19 strikes coordinated with and in support of the Government of Iraq using rocket artillery and attack, fighter, and remotely piloted aircraft against ISIL targets."
The US-led coalition of nearly 60 nations has been conducting airstrikes against Daesh, first in Iraq and later Syria since 2014 – however, without the approval of the Syrian government or the UN Security Council.
