The woman is suspected of having operated an escort service and even sending young women to Arab countries to work as prostitutes.
Following the allegations, AfD representative Thomas de Jesus Fernandes told German media that the party can't trust the politician anymore and expects her to "voluntarily" resign. However, Federau who is now №3 on the AfD list for the state election had previously rejected a voluntary resignation.
If the alleged "escort manager" won't be willing to give up her candidacy, the party would consider other ways to remove her from the list, AfD spokesman Leif-Erik Holm said, as cited by German newspaper Die Welt.
He also added that the party had repeatedly sought a conversation with Federau to clarify the veracity of the reports, but Federau had refused to discuss the issue.
