WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Asked if Washington has intensified cooperation with its European allies to strengthen their fight against terrorism after Paris and Brussels attacks, Kerry said, "Absolutely."
On March 22, two suicide blasts ripped through the departures hall of Brussels' Zaventem international airport while another explosion hit the Maelbeek subway station killing over 30 people and injuring over 300.
Kerry explained that prior to the Brussels attacks, Washington had already planned several meetings in April with its foreign fighter surge support team to discuss plans to visit Europe to help the continent "strengthen their ability to fight back."
"We have been deeply engaged with our European partners, they are engaged," Kerry explained adding that the United States is "definitively at war" with Daesh and that "real progress" has been made after the Brussels attacks.
