VLADIVOSTOK (Sputnik) – The naval infantry divisions of the Russia’s Pacific Fleet and combined arms brigades of the fifth army will hold bilateral tactical exercises with live firing, an Eastern Military District spokesman said Tuesday.
The exercises will take place on an amphibious polygon in the far-eastern region of Primorsky Krai.
"The marines will practice tasks of breaking through the anti-paratrooper defense of the imaginary enemy…, will carry out simultaneous strikes against the defending side from the sea, air and shore," Roman Martov said.
The first phase of the exercises will entail tactical landing of paratroopers. Obstacle-clearing groups of engineering units of the marines will land next.
According to Martov, more than 1,000 servicemen, 80 units of equipment, 10 warships and support vessels, planes as well as helicopters will take part in the event.
