According to reports, the contact lens will be equipped with "a tiny display, a camera, an antenna, and several sensors" to detect eye movement.
Much like the Google Glass, the new device will need to be tethered to a smartphone to function. The lenses are said to be capable of clandestinely taking photos or videos.
According to the SamMobile website, the contacts "can provide a more natural way to provide augmented reality than smart glasses."
Interestingly, Google has a patent for electronic contact lenses that analyzes the wearer's tears to evaluate blood sugar, providing people with diabetes a warning should their glucose levels need to be adjusted.
