WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — UN General Assembly should adopt a strong resolution aimed at preventing violent extremism this June, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon stated in an address to the Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) Symposium on Wednesday.
"The United Nations General Assembly has unanimously welcomed my initiative to launch a plan of action to prevent violent extremism. I hope the General Assembly will take a further step this June by adopting a strong consensus resolution," Ban said.
He added that this week he will be traveling to Geneva for an international CVE conference, "which will address key things raised in the plan."
