BAKU (Sputnik) – Practically all means to solve the crisis in the de facto independent Nagorno-Karabakh Republic are available, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Thursday.
"President [Vladimir] Putin is paying personal attention to the issue, at the ministerial level, we regularly meet with Azerbaijani colleagues and Armenian counterparts in bilateral and trilateral formats. Indeed, I agree that almost all of the components and agreements are already on the table," Lavrov said during a press conference following a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Azerbaijani counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov in Baku.
The conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh began in 1988, when the Armenian-dominated autonomous region sought to secede from the Azerbaijan Soviet Socialist Republic, before the latter itself proclaimed independence after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991.
