WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – More than 400 Iraqi fighters have graduated from a number of US training courses at Camp Taji north of Baghdad, Operation Inherent Resolve spokesman Col. Steve Warren told reporters on Thursday.
"This week, over 400 Iraqis from our Build Partner Capacity site in Taji, completed several courses, including the combat medic course, infantry skills course and the arranger battalion course," Warren stated.
In March, the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government's administration said US military advisers were training Iraqi soldiers to recapture of the city of Mosul from the Islamic State terror group.
The US-led coalition of more than 60 nations has been carrying out airstrikes against the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq since summer 2014.
The Islamic State, also known as Daesh, has been designated as a terrorist organization and is outlawed in the United States, Russia and numerous other countries.
