WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Countries of the European Union (EU) have been disregarding terrorist screening mechanisms provided by the United States, FBI’s Terrorist Screening Center Director Christopher Piehota said on Thursday.
"We provide them [EU] with support, and I would find it concerning that they don't use these tools to help screen for their own aviation security, maritime security, border screening, visas, things like that for travel," Piehota stated in an interview with CNN.
Piehota noted, however, that information sharing with EU countries has improved amid growing threat from the Islamic State terrorist group, also known as Daesh.
US media reported that Ibrahim Bakraoui, one of the suspected Brussels suicide bombers, was put on the US terror watch list before the deadly November terrorist attacks in Paris.
