Obama and US national security officials will review efforts to combat the Islamic State, also known as Daesh, at the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) headquarters on April 13, Friedman stated on Friday, according to a pool report.
After a meeting with the US National Security Council on February 25, Obama said the fight against Daesh remained a challenge, but underscored the militants, who have ceased vast areas in Iraq and Syria, were growing weaker and would be eventually defeated.
The US president also noted that anti-Daesh campaign should include not only air operations, but should also focus on countering radical online propaganda.
Daesh has been banned in a range of countries, including Russia and the United States. The terror group is known for its successful online propaganda and social media recruitment tactics, which primarily target young people globally.
