TALLINN (Sputnik) — The main purpose of the visit is to confirm the interest of Estonia in increasing cooperation between the two countries in the context of the further implementation of the nuclear agreement.
According to the press release, during the visit, Kaljurand will meet with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, and other ministers. She is also expected to open the Estonian-Iranian economic seminar.
The latest high-level visit by an Iranian official to Estonia took place in 2008, when the then Deputy Foreign Minister Mehdi Safari arrived in the country.
In January, the European Union, the United Nations and the United States lifted its sanctions from Iran following the implementation of the obligations Tehran took on under the nuclear deal signed with the six world powers in July 2015 to ensure the peaceful nature of its nuclear program.
