The declaration in favor of nuclear disarmament was adopted by the foreign ministers of the Group of Seven (G7) on Monday after a meeting in Hiroshima.

TOKYO (Sputnik) — The two-day ministerial meeting, which kicked off on Sunday, is part of preparations for the G7 leaders meeting due to be held between May 26-27 on an island in the Mie prefecture, near the city of Shima in Japan.

The G7 currently consists of Germany, the United States, Canada, Japan, France, the United Kingdom and Italy.

"We reaffirm our commitment to seeking a safer world for all and to creating the conditions for a world without nuclear weapons in a way that promotes international stability," the declaration said.
