NEW DELHI (Sputnik) — A Daesh member in India, Abu Anas, has been tasked to develop the secret communication application as he holds a master's degree in computer application, The Economic Times reported.
"I discovered Signal through open source since the other chatting applications like WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram were easily being monitored by security agencies. Signal is not under the monitoring purview of the security agencies," the newspaper quoted Anas, who was arrested in Hyderabad in January, as telling the interrogators.
Anas, who has allegedly led the group of computer experts, has intended to travel to Syria through Japan, from where he expected to head for Turkey.
Daesh is a designated terrorist group that has captured large areas of land in Syria and Iraq, where it proclaimed a caliphate. The terror group is outlawed in Russia, the United States and in several other countries.
