MOSCOW (Sputnik) — President Vladimir Putin will hold a meeting with representatives and heads of major German business entities operating in Russia later on Monday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"In the early afternoon a meeting between Putin and representatives of German business circles — representatives and heads of large German companies, mostly those who work on the Russian market — will take place," Peskov told reporters.
German business people have repeatedly called for the lifting of sanctions against Russia, imposed in 2014 over Moscow's alleged interference in the Ukrainian crisis, which has been denied by the Russian authorities.
In mid-December 2015, President of the German-Russian Chamber of Foreign Trade Rainer Seele said that members of the chamber were eager for the European Union to reassess its anti-Russia restrictive measures.
