MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet the heads of the Russian space industry and hold a video conference with the International Space Station to mark Cosmonautics Day on Tuesday, the Kremlin said in a statement.
"The President will mark Cosmonautics Day, April 12, by meeting with the heads of Russia’s space sector and taking part in a direct linkup between the International Space Station and the Vostochny space launch center," the statement said.
Putin is also expected to hold meetings with Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin and Head of State Corporation Roscosmos Igor Komarov, who will report on developments in Russia’s cosmonautics.
The Russian leader will also attend a concert to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the first manned spaceflight.
