Yatsenyuk Resignation to Have No Effect as Kiev Gov't 'Ultra-Corrupted'
20:07 GMT 11.04.2016 (Updated: 20:24 GMT 11.04.2016) The resignation of Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk will have no effect on the crisis in the country, as the core of the government is "ultra-corrupted and a sort of mafia," a member of the Austrian parliament from the right-wing Freedom Party of Austria (FPO), told Sputnik.
MOSCOW (Sputnik), Svetlana Alexandrova – On Sunday, Yatsenyuk announced his resignation starting April 12 amid the ongoing parliamentary crisis in the country.
"The recent resignation of the Prime Minister will not change a lot [in the Ukrainian crisis] as a core of the government around the president apparently is ultra-corrupted and a sort of mafia," Johannes Hubner said.
The lawmaker stressed that the West should be prepared for another failure of the new government as the parliamentary faction of Ukraine's President, the Petro Poroshenko Bloc, was not serious about taking on corruption or enacting the promised reforms.
The Ukrainian government has been in turmoil since early February when the country’s economic development minister resigned citing the slow pace of change and widespread government corruption. Five other ministers initially followed his lead but later rowed back on their intention to quit.
The Petro Poroshenko Bloc, has nominated speaker of the Ukrainian parliament Volodymyr Groysman for the post of Prime Minister.
