WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Work on the aircraft will be performed in Jacksonville, Florida, and is expected to be completed in December 2016, the announcement added.
"The Boeing Company, Jacksonville, Florida, is being awarded $93.8 million… contract…for depot-level maintenance support and sustainment for the F/A-18 A/B/C/D aircraft," the announcement stated on Monday.
The F/A-18 Hornet, originally designed and built by McDonnell-Douglas before its merger with Boeing, is a twin-engine supersonic, all weather carrier aircraft designed as both a fighter and attack aircraft.
