18:55 GMT 12.04.2016 (Updated: 19:26 GMT 19.10.2022) Dogs in Russia celebrate Cosmonautics Day, too!
Russia marks Cosmonautics Day on April 12 commemorating the first manned space flight carried out by Yuri Gagarin in 1961 aboard the Vostok-1 spacecraft.
Besides, Soviet dogs Belka and Strelka were the first animals that conducted an orbital space flight and returned alive. This happened on August 19, 1960.
