It has been announced that "Ghumphir Barsa", which means "Travel Year", will begin and cover the entire Nepali year of 2073, beginning on April 13, in a bid to promote domestic tourism, according to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB). The initiative is a part of the government's preparations to organize its International Tourism Year during 2017-18.

"At a time when the number of foreign tourists visiting Nepal has decreased since the last year's earthquake, the promotion of internal tourism makes sense," said Deepak Raj Joshi, CEO of the NTB.
