"Together we invite all heads of state and government of the United Nations to the Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development," the release stated.

The event coincides with the first year in which the United Nations is slated to begin implementing its 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the release added.

The development agenda sets forth a series of ambitious goals, including the elimination of global poverty in the next 14 years, according to the United Nations.

Meanwhile, Ecuador is attempting to attract investment from Russian companies, the nation’s parliamentary President Gabriela Rivadeneira said late last month.
