Earlier on Tuesday, local media reported that several rocket-propelled projectiles fired from Syria and targeting Kilis, landed on Turkish territory, injuring up to 20 people, according to various estimates.

In March, two civilians, including a child, were killed in Kilis province in a similar incident. The Turkish artillery retaliated by shelling the positions in Syria from where the rocket missiles were presumably fired.
The city, which hosts a large number of refugees, has previously been shelled from the part of Syrian territory, seized by the IS. The notorious jihadist group is in control of vast territories in Syria and the neighboring Iraq. It is outlawed in Russia, the United States and numerous other countries.
