MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The UN did not name its missing staff member and appealed to "all parties, including the media" to exercise restraint "in this sensitive phase of the discussion around his release."
"The United Nations is deeply concerned about the fact that one of its staff members is being held captive in Donetsk. Information available is that the staff is well treated. The UN has mobilized all channels to ensure his immediate and unconditional release," the office said Tuesday.
Ceasefire violations have been reportedly on the rise in eastern Ukraine in the past weeks as April 13 marks a 2-year anniversary since Ukrainian government forces launched a military offensive against pro-independence supporters in Donetsk and Luhansk.
